Edgar Negret Dueñas ( Popayán , October 11 , 1920 - Bogotá , October 11 , 2012 ) was a Colombian abstract sculptor . Together with Hugo Martínez González and Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar , they introduced abstractionist and geometric sculpture in Colombia in the mid-twentieth century. His works are characterized by extensive use of iron and aluminum as structural and formal materials, joining their sheets and parts using nuts and screws. His sculptures are also characterized by the use of geometric elements and compositional rigor. There are several sculptures of his in public spaces in Bogotá , Medellín , Popayán and Valencia . 1 ​2 ​3
