Painter of works of art:
Carlos Prado
Carlos Prado was born in Medellín, in the northwest of Colombia in 1960. He grew up in the city called the capital of the mountains, the Andean region of the country, and has lived some periods of his life on the Colombian Caribbean coast, giving rise to for his love for the natural landscape to grow enormously. Which I relate to his profession as a civil engineer and enthusiasm for expressing what he saw and felt, leading him to do artistic self-study in watercolor and oil painting.
His interest was cultivated during his adolescence with pencil drawing, and he developed much more in the drawing, perspectives and volumes workshops at the University of Medellín, and later in the watercolor and oil painting workshops at the Bellas University Foundation. Arts of Medellín, complementing it with private workshops of plastic artists, with the teacher Socorro Millán U., thus beginning her artistic life, bringing out her desires and innate abilities for painting in 2003.
The themes that appear in his works are related to calm, peace, serenity, contemplation and positivism, through landscapes and natural prints full of life and color; His technique is applied in watercolor stains and marks made with a spatula for oil paint, in a figurative-expressive way and complementing them with other means such as a brush, touch, sponges and any element that enriches the work, always highlighting the great variety of colors in them.
The first thing that is usually noticed when appreciating his art is the harmony of color and composition throughout the work, which initially began with watercolor that provided expressiveness, spontaneity, freedom, and which was later transferred to the oil technique by applying marks with spatula.
His artistic influences are the masters Botero for the tonalities of the colors, Obregón for the spontaneity in his lines and Eladio Vélez for the stain in the watercolor.
Carlos enjoys giving artistic painting workshops, among others, to people who need it to overcome deficiencies in concentration, perseverance, patience or expression and fun.
Carlos lives and works in Medellín, surrounded by the mountains that watch him grow.
